This weekend marks one year since COVID was deemed a National Emergency and LA went into lockdown. I just want to take a moment to reflect on this year and express my gratitude first and foremost to my team for working safely and diligently throughout this pandemic. A huge thank you to all of our customers who supported us day after day, week after week….some bringing us cookies and cakes, buying the team wine to enjoy after their shift, leaving notes taped on our window, and even phone calls just to say “thank you” or “keep it up” or “I appreciate you”. You have no idea how those moments saved us. From a customer perspective, it seemed that Milkfarm was flowing along smoothly, but I’ll tell you we hit every bump, curb, rock and wall emotionally, physically and mentally. Looking back, having our doors open from March to May (2020) was actually pretty scary! I am grateful to have a team that was able to shift with every new rule and regulation that was thrown at us while wearing a mask for 10+ hours (and policing unruly patrons), all while keeping their own emotions in check. At times we were so busy that our watch clocked us at walking 10 miles in the shop between running to answer the endless phone calls, or running orders out to cars. We literally broke our hand sink area due to water damage from washing our hands so much (our poor hands). There was a massive disruption in the supply chain for cheese/ meats/ wine/ bread, but I *think* we did a good job on making it seem normal in the shop! Never forget, 2020 was the year that your local cheese shop provided ?TOILET PAPER? to the community. I could go on forever about what we had to do to make the shop work over the past year, but I’ll save you the reading. I just want to say that there is no better team of Cheesemongers to have by my side (through a damn pandemic no less) than Devra, Alyssa, Andrew, JimJames, (Mara) and now Sam and Abby. They made it work; they make Milkfarm work….now here we are, 1 year later still slingin’ cheese ? and ready to get our 2nd vaccine! Thanks for reading, thanks for your support, and see y’all in the shop soon! *Enjoy some highlight (or lowlight) pics.
