SUMMARY:Sake Class (with Cheese!)
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we host Atsuko Glick- Sake Educator from the Sake School of America\, for our upcoming Sake (and cheese) Class. Leah\, the owner of Milkfarm\, was recently Certified as a Japanese Sake Advisor and Atsuko was the instructor of the course! While you won’t get a Certification in this fun class\, you will walk away with a ton of knowledge! \nThe focus of this class is certainly sake! We are excited to showcase SIX very different sakes so that you may learn AND understand the key differences between awa\, nama\, muroka\, tokubetsu\, kimoto\, doburoku and more! Not only will you learn about these terms\, you’ll literally be able to TASTE the difference! No longer look at a restaurant sake list with confusion or a Google Translator again! A Milkfarm class\, wouldn’t be a Milkfarm class without cheese! Phenomenal cheese pairings will be enjoyed with 4 of the sakes. \nEach attendee will go home with a couple of collectors sake cups as well! \nAtsuko Glick \n\nAtsuko Glick | Master Sake Sommelier & WSET Certified Educator\nOriginally from Japan and based in Los Angeles\, Atsuko is a professional in sake and shochu education. Beyond her instructional role\, she maintains a practical interest in the processes of fermentation. By cultivating sourdough starters and fermenting homemade kimchi and kombucha\, she applies a hands-on approach to understanding the behavior of yeast and bacteria. This practical insight serves as a foundation for her teaching\, allowing her to explain complex brewing theories with clarity and precision. \nAtsuko holds certifications as a Master Sake Sommelier and a WSET Certified Sake Educator. Her expertise is integrated into higher education as a guest lecturer for California State Polytechnic University; she conducts elective courses for the general student body at the Pomona campus and specialized lectures for senior-level enology students at the San Luis Obispo campus. \nShe currently serves as Vice President of Sake School of America (SSA)\, where she oversees the operations and academic standards of the institution’s extensive educational offerings. SSA is a globally recognized educational hub and a leader in sake education outside of Japan\, providing a comprehensive range of international certifications from WSET\, SSI\, and JSA\, alongside its own proprietary programs. Now in its 16th year\, SSA has welcomed over 3\,600 students and awarded more than 2\,700 certifications. By integrating globally recognized curricula with the school’s unique expertise\, Atsuko remains dedicated to maintaining the high standard of education that has defined the institution since its inception.
