We are honored to host Parish Hill Creamery for our next Meet the Maker. These events are FREE and OPEN TO ALL. Try some cheese, ask a lot of questions….these events are for you!

Parish Hill Creamery is the passion project of Peter Dixon – rightly believed to be one of the most influential people in the American Artisanal Cheese making community. He’s been producing handmade cheese and teaching people about it for over 30 years.
Milk is sourced from a herd of less than 20 milking registered Jersey cows that live at The Putney School – an “arty farty” college prep that focuses on sustainable philosophy (Peter went to high school here!). A retired Jersey dairyman cares for the herd, and the students mind the cows as part of their community responsibilities. Every element of the cheese is handmade – from the milk, to the cultures (made from the raw milk of the best cows), to the salt that is produced in Maine.
With his life and business partner Rachel, Peter only makes cheese when the cows are on pasture. Cows are “dry” – meaning not milking because they are preparing to give birth – for only ~2 months a year. This means that Peter COULD make cheese 10 months out of the year, but then the cows would not be on fresh grass, a compromise Peter will not make. This coupled with Peter and Rachel’s insistence on home produced starter cultures, and ZERO lab grown secondary starters makes their production the most true to form in relation to the word “Artisanal” in America.
